Overview
During the 2016 mayoral elections, Gazeta TV launched a website to covering all political news related to the election. The website was organized into three sections: the first focused on written news, the second featured video content from the TV channel, and the third included a system for processing votes in real time.
The website provided exclusive interviews with all the candidates running for mayor of São Paulo that year. Additionally, the system used to process the votes was utilized during a live broadcast from the TV news, enabling analysts to discuss the results as soon as they were available.

A website to help people vote
In an effort to assist people with the voting process during the 2016 mayoral election, Gazeta TV launched a website packed with valuable information about the electoral process. The site featured interviews with candidates, the latest news, and a system for tracking poll results. This election year was particularly significant in Brazil, as the country was experiencing political turmoil and division following the recent impeachment of a president.
During that period of turmoil, I was assigned the task of designing the website and the system to track the poll results. Unfortunately, the division also affected the project design, as I couldn't use any colors that resembled those of the political parties. As a solution, I designed everything in black and white, resulting in a classy website with ample white space and strong typographic expression.
I designed this screen for use during the live TV coverage. It shows the poll results in real-time.
The biggest challenge was designing the system to count the votes. Since we covered the state of São Paulo, we had too much data to organize in a way that made sense to the user. The entire system was designed for desktop and mobile navigation, as it is the main editorial website containing news and videos.
This project was the first of its kind for Gazeta TV and part of the journalism department's efforts to modernize election coverage. The results were positive, and the website became an excellent example of effective political journalism during elections.
